Dental Crowns, Onlays & Inlays Procedure

Crowns:

Dental CrownCrowns (sometimes known as “caps”) are typically used  to cover teeth that have been treated with a root canal, have cracked, or that contain  large fillings or are otherwise damaged or fractured. The crown not only improves the appearance of the tooth, but also provides extra protection. Crowns can me made of a variety of materials including porcelain and gold (metal).  Crowns are typically prepared and inserted in as little as two appointments.

Inlays/Onlays:

Dental Inlays & OnlaysInlays and onlays also help to repair teeth that have been fractured or damaged and are typically used in the place of crowns when tooth damage is less extensive. Inlays are use to treat the “indented” or chewing portion of the tooth, while onlays cover a larger surface area. They can be made from porcelain and metal as with crowns, and are typically prepared and inserted in two appointments.
